How To Detox Your Body Naturally Everyday

What comes to your mind when you think of “detoxing”?

Maybe it’s a week long juice cleanse?

A store bought product that promises to rid your body of every toxin, parasite and fat cell?

I admit, the word detox used to make me think of things like this. Back in 2012 I even gave into some fad detox cleanse where I only ate apples for 3 days (insert face slapping emoji here).

Detoxing your body doesn’t require any extreme measures, your body has what it needs to naturally detox itself everyday!

The best thing you can do to detox is to support your body and it’s built-in detoxification system.

Here are 10 simple ways to do just that:

1. Eat Real, Organic Foods

Ditch the processed and genetically modified food! Eating organic food that is as close to it’s natural state as possible will give your body the building blocks it needs to function optimally and naturally detox itself.

Eating organic will also limit your exposure to pesticides and herbicides, thus reducing your body’s overall toxin load.

2. Stay Hydrated

Water helps to flush toxins from our bodies and carry nutrients to where they are needed.

Adequate water intake is crucial for our body’s regular functions to work efficiently.

Water aids our digestive system and kidney function which are both key players in our body’s detoxification system.

3. Epsom Salt Bath

Taking an epsom salt bath will help to pull toxins from your body through the skin.
This is a good way to gently detox your body while sneaking in some self care!

Epsom salts also contain magnesium that is absorbed by your body so it’s a great way to restore magnesium levels.

Add 1/4 cup of epsom salts to your bath and soak for up to 20 minutes.

4. Go Non-Toxic With Your Cleaning And Personal Products

The less toxins you consume, the less likely your body’s detoxification system is to get overwhelmed and cause a toxin overload in your body.

Our skin is our body’s largest organ and it absorbs everything that we put on it, including chemicals from personal care products.

We also absorb toxic chemicals from our cleaning products through our lungs and even though our skin from touching surfaces that have been cleaned with traditional cleaning products.

Adopting a non-toxic lifestyle is one of the best things you can do for your health.

5. Take Probiotics

Probiotics help to create and maintain a healthy and balanced gut microbiome which is crucial for overall health.

Certain strains of probiotics have been shown to reduce heavy metals in the body, break down pesticides and help to reduce the absorption of BPA.

Since the digestive system plays a major role in our body’s detoxification system, maintaining a healthy gut microbiome will in turn maintain your body’s ability to naturally detox itself.

6. Sweat

A great way to get rid of toxins is through our skin when we sweat.

There has been some debate in the scientific community as to whether or not we can actually sweat out toxins but many studies have shown that we can.

Breaking a sweat by sitting in a sauna or exercising on a regular basis will help your body to excrete toxins through your skin.

7. Stimulate Lymph Flow

Our lymphatic system is a crucial part of both our body’s immune system and detoxification system.

The lymphatic system transports lymph around the body, which is a fluid that contains white blood cells.

Lymph cleanses nearly every cell in the body so it’s important that it doesn’t become stagnant.

You can stimulate lymph flow by dry brushing, jumping on a rebounder or getting a lymphatic drainage massage.

8. Lemon Water

Lemon water aids our body’s ability to detox by improving liver function so it’s able to efficiently break down and expel toxins.

Lemon water is also a diuretic, meaning it increases the frequency of urination, which is the kidney’s main detox mechanism.

Lemon has the added benefit of being a great source of vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant that will support your immune system, your detoxification systems and your overall health.

9. Dandelion Root Tea

Dandelion root tea is full of antioxidants and has many health benefits.

It’s a diuretic so it supports the kidneys in detoxification through urination.

It also is a gentle laxative and supports the digestive system, which as I’ve mentioned before, plays a major role in our detoxification system.

Be sure to only drink organic tea to avoid pesticides!

10. Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is done by swishing an oil of choice (coconut is my favourite) in your mouth for 5-20 minutes.

This is not only great for your oral health but for detoxification as well.

Oil pulling removes toxins from your teeth and your gums. It also activates salivary enzymes that absorb toxins from the blood, therefore detoxifying the entire body.

So there you have it! 10 simple ways to detox your body.

Incorporate these things into your everyday routines to avoid your body being overburdened with toxins.

And please stay away from 3 day apple cleanses or anything similar!
